LOCATION: ALL WALKING TOURS START FROM THE EAST SETAUKET TOWN DOCK ALONG SHORE ROAD (TURN OFF 25A AT SHORE ROAD AND PROCEED ONE-HALF MILE TO THE TOWN BEACH AND TOWN DOCK)
The walk is approximately 1 and 1/2 hours and will take tour-goers along Shore Road to Scott's Cove and return. The walking tour explores the Dyer’s Neck-East Setauket Historic Shipbuilding District where coast-wise and ocean-going ships were built and where these local families, lived, worked and died. You will see the carpentershop where the construction planning took place and visit the area where completed ships wintered over and where the bones of these ships rest today.
Additional walking tours can be scheduled by appointment for groups of 8 to 25 persons. Take a walk with Captain Tyler and learn about Setauket's shipbuilding heritage. Small or large groups are welcome. Scouts, home-school groups, senior citizens, retired clubs. I also have programs to do at your specified location. All programs and all fees are for the benefit of the Three Village Historical Society.
